CURRENT CAMPAIGN

Winter Essentials Fund

Winter is coming to South Africa. While much of the Western world is heading into summer, families in Nomzamo Winnie Mandela Camp are preparing for months of bitter cold, wind, and rain. Many live in structures made entirely of corrugated tin with little protection from the elements. Imagine trying to keep your children warm through a freezing night with no insulation, no heating, and rain leaking through the roof. This campaign is raising funds to provide warm blankets, winter jackets, hats, scarves, gloves, and thick socks for families facing the coldest months of the year. Together, we can help ensure that no family has to face winter alone.

THE WORK AHEAD

Mapping The Need.
Stepping Toward Change.

Disconnected From Basic Infrastructure

Millions of South Africans continue to live in informal settlements and township communities that remain disconnected from the infrastructure many people consider basic necessities.

The Reality On The Ground

Families are raising children beneath corrugated metal roofs without formal housing, sewage systems, waste management services, internet access, and pathways into financial systems.

Where We Begin

In Nomzamo Winnie Mandela Camp, more than 3,000 people share a handful of portable toilets. There is no municipal sewage system, no waste collection, and no internet infrastructure.

Why We Step

Footsteps Inc. exists to stand alongside these communities — providing immediate relief while helping create pathways toward dignity, infrastructure, financial inclusion, and long-term opportunity.

A South Africa Where No Family Is Left Behind

The goal is not simply replacing roofs. The goal is restoring dignity, access, and opportunity for generations to come.
